The year is 1746. A young woman from South Carolina and a Scottish Highlander share an intimacy and devotion beyond their understanding.
They’ve known each other their entire lives.
They live a half-world apart.
And they have never met…
Maggie Johnson has been gifted with “the Sight” ever since she was a child. Her dreams bring her visions of the future and of a presence she knows is not a figment of her imagination. She calls him Wolf, having watched him grow from a careless young boy into a fearsome warrior, and she trusts him with her life and her heart.
Andrew MacDonnell is fascinated by the woman who has visited him in his dreams for as long as he can remember, entranced by her beauty, knowing deep in his soul that she is as real as he. Although he doesn’t know who she is, Andrew believes that destiny will bring them together.
When tragedy and war strike their homelands, both Maggie and Andrew suffer indescribable losses. Separated across an ocean, the bond they share nevertheless grows as they sense each other’s pain, lend each other strength, and embark on a journey of the spirit to find and love one another at long last…

“ … a superb historical romance with a unique paranormal twist. From the outstandingly thorough development of characters and plot to the deliciously served historical details, it's a real treat to read. Fast paced, gracefully written and immensely enjoyable, it's a book to devour. This book was wonderful. It offered so much more than I expected. … Her descriptions are detailed and rich in flavor, her writing enthralling. The story has so much depth to it, so much meaning, it's breathtaking! It's not your typical, shallow romance. It's a fabulous and brilliant piece of literature, definitely worth reading! The best part? You don't need to be a romance fan to enjoy this book.”

“WOW! I don’t know where to start to say how much I loved this book! Under the Same Sky is absolutely amazing. … The writing is superb and I never would have believed that it was a debut novel if I hadn’t been told. The characters are vivid, alive in a way that I rarely see in a book. From the first sentence of the first chapter I was hooked. … Under the Same Sky has the feel of a movie, the writing is that superb. The way the story flows and is told, the way I felt like I was right there, inside the book for every moment from the very first sentence. … Outstanding work by Genevieve Graham. Stunning, beautiful, EPIC.”

✭✭✭✭✭ Brilliant and breathtaking
By Tiffany A. Harkleroad "Tiffanys Bookshelf"
I told the author, when I was midway through the book, that it was stealing my breath and breaking my heart. She responded that she hoped it would heal my heart as well, and I am happy to say her hope was fulfilled. This book? Breathtaking. Honestly. This is not your typical damsel in distress with a heaving bosom beneath a ripped bodice type of romance novel. This, well, this is pure magic. The story is so incredibly written. The way that Maggie and Andrew have parallel lives, paths occasionally crossing on a metaphysical plane.
There is a deeply spiritual connection between Maggie and Andrew, and that is what makes this story so romantic. I am the type of reader who longs for that type of story in a genre that, despite its name, is often reduced to shallow sexuality. I think real fans of romance novels will enjoy this book, particularly those fond of historical romances and Highland romances.
Genevieve Graham has outdone herself this time.
✭✭✭✭✭ An Amazing Debut
By K. Warner
It's hard to believe this is Genevieve Graham's first book--it's so beautifully written, so well-plotted, and has such fine characterization. The mark of a good writer is when an author can create a situation (in this case, a psychic connection) that is beyond the reader's experience, yet can still make it feel utterly believable. Graham does this to perfection. This love story of two damaged souls a world apart yet forever in each other's thoughts (even though they have never spoken or met) is unique and beautifully drawn. Maggie lives in America--Andrew lives in Scotland. Each faces monumental obstacles, terrible losses, and crushing hardship, yet they draw strength from their fragile psychic bond to eventually reach their "happily ever after". This is not a book for the faint-hearted, but an authentic look at both Scotland and Colonial America in the 1750s. It is also an endearing and enduring love story. Graham has a remarkable talent.

I read this book last year and wanted to include it on my Best Books of 2011 but since technically is wasn't available until January 3, 2012 it couldn't be included, but it will be in the running for 2012. This book is amazing. To think because it is not classified as a genre I usually read, I may have missed out on this story. This is the type of book my whole blog is about, a book you can escape into, a perfect escape, an adventure not to be missed. As soon as I finished this story and the snippet of the next I had to email Genevieve. I loved the story so much but my enthusiasm was so great I was having trouble putting it into words. Today I still feel like I am gushing but I really want to get across to all of you that you will enjoy this book, especially if you are like me, someone who has basically stepped away from the romance genre.
This story is beautifully written and captivating. There are places where it is purely poetic. I am anxiously awaiting Sound of The Heart coming out in May.

Graham debuts with a uniquely crafted love story of two people who have never physically met, but have shared a bond since childhood. Moving back and forth between colonial America and Scotland, Graham allows readers into the hearts and minds of her characters and the historical events that shape their lives. The shift between first-person to third-person narrative may be difficult for some readers to follow, but others will be completely engrossed as each story unfolds. Readers will wait with bated breath for the sequel.
On the Carolina frontier Maggie Johnson’s family struggles to survive. Maggie’s gift of “the sight” and her visions show her a presence she calls Wolf. She watches him grow from a boy her age to a man even as she goes from child to woman.
Andrew MacDonald has always wondered about the girl he sees in his dreams. He is able to talk to her through their thoughts and vows that even if he must cross an ocean he will find her. They are thrust into different situations: Andrew fights for the doomed Jacobite cause and Maggie is captured by slavers, then rescued and brought into a kind, loving Native American tribe. They each believe in destiny and the power of the love they have shared forever.
