Today "Somewhere to Dream" is IN STORES (and ONLINE), and I really can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of Adelaide's and Jesse's stories.
It's been a loooooong time coming—or at least it feels that way to me.
Penguin asked to publish the book back in June 2012, only one month after "Sound of the Heart" launched. That's seventeen months! In the meantime, they've reissued the first two books in mass market paperback, just like this one. They decided not to go with Trade paperback (the larger, more expensive size), which is great because it means you can buy the whole set for about $30, but it also means that this third book won't match your first two if you already own them on trade. Sorry about that—beyond my control!
I've been asked about future stories in "The MacDonnell" series, and to be honest, I haven't written any ... yet. I have a few in mind, though. It's a matter of finding time to put pen to paper—or rather, fingers to keyboard. But the stories haven't left me, in fact they're fresh in my mind recently, so I'm sure they'll pressure me to write soon enough!
Today I'm celebrating. I hope "Somewhere to Dream" takes you away!
On sale everywhere.
Order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Book Depository, McNally Robinson, Powell's Books, and all other online locations.

I love to write. You've all heard that before. If I could do nothing but write every day I'd be a happy mama.
Know what else I love? Making book trailers. heh heh
Authors can get trailers made, or they can do them on their own. Well, when I started looking at this a couple of years ago, it took me … about thirty seconds to realize I couldn't afford to hire a trailer maker, or whatever they're called. But I really wanted a book trailer. So I started playing with my Mac's iMovie app.
Wow. It was so much work twisting the intricacies of very basic movie-making into my brain. I love my Mac, and I admit I find all things Apple to be intriguing, but boy oh boy, was some hair pulled out during the figuring out process. I am not a left brain girl. Nor am I one to sit around and watch instructional YouTubes. So I stumbled bravely (and stubbornly, some might say) ahead, having *aha!* moments throughout.
Since then I've made a whole bunch of movies and I've even redone the one for "Under the Same Sky." I think I've posted the new one on here, but I'll check to make sure when I'm done here. I particularly liked the trailer for "Sound of the Heart" because my hubby and I have starring roles (hands reaching and running through the woods - that was him, and that's in the forests of Nova Scotia, to be honest). I even made a trailer for a book that hasn't yet been published, and I keep wishing it would get published just so I could share the trailer!
Anyway, I finally finished the trailer for "Somewhere to Dream," and I'm really excited about it. I met a fabulous photographer on facebook named Rob Hunter, and he takes a lot of gorgeous photographs in Colonial Williamsburg, which happens to be fairly close to where "Somewhere to Dream" takes place. In particular, I loved his photos of the Cherokee reenactors, and he graciously allowed me to include a photo of Craig Reubens in here (Cherokee in full paint). Any other beautiful photos in the trailer are his as well, pretty much. So thanks, Rob.
Penguin has decided that the Goodreads giveaway WON'T be two copies of "Somewhere to Dream."
They've decided we're giving away TWENTY COPIES!
So after you're done admiring my handiwork you should sign up to win (if you're on Goodreads).
So now ... without further ado ... turn up your volume, sit back, and relax.
