When I write a novel I follow various paths, exploring scenes and chapters and plot lines which might not eventually appear in the actual pages of the published book. This is not to say that the "deleted scenes" weren't of similar quality (though they might be a little less polished than the final book's edits), but they might not have contributed to the eventual finished story. I love to go back and look at some of these pages, remind myself of other things that helped me write Come From Away, and I want to share them here with you, adding one at a time. A few contain "spoilers", meaning they might give away a fair amount of plot, but I will mark those clearly as I post them.
So let's start at the beginning—or at least what I had planned as the beginning.
1 - Original Opening
4 - Eugene & Linda
2 - Navy Medical Exam for the Twins
5 - Tommy Jr.
3 - Danny missing his sons
6 - Norman talks to Danny & Audrey
7 - Harry & Eugene: Battle at Sea
8 - Rudi faces Danny
(this is my "vision" of Rudi: German actor Max Riemelt).
